UPDATE NOTE: Direct Travel Insurance no longer offers the Black Diamond policy. We apologise for any inconvenience. Please visit our winter sports page for a selection of alternative policies.

Direct Travel Insurance has launched Black Diamond, a new enhanced ski insurance policy offering cover specifically tailored to the needs of serious skiers and snowboarders.

With the news this week that some of the European resorts have already experienced up to 20 cm of snow, it seems that the winter sports season is likely to start early this year.

Black Diamond includes:

  • Off-piste skiing and snowboarding (as long as it is not against local authority advice)
  • Scheduled airline failure cover (*)
  • £600 for physiotherapy on return to the UK to help you recover for an injury on your return home
  • £1,000 for loss of hired equipment
  • £3,000,000 personal liability cover
  • £1,500 if your own ski equipment is lost, stolen or damaged. There is no single item limit. This includes theft from roof boxes for those driving to resorts as well as skis left outside mountain restaurants
  • £600 delayed baggage cover
  • 24-hour medical emergency, search and mountain rescue service
  • £1,000 if your ski pass is lost, stolen or damaged
  • Cover for parapenting and heli-skiing and for entering fun races
  • Piste closure when the resort has 80% of runs closed
  • Snow parks - providing this is purely recreational
  • An unlimited number of ski trips on Annual policies (up to 17 days per trip)

Prices start from £25.00 for a 10 day individual Single Trip to Europe and from £86.63 for an individual Annual Multi-trip cover to Europe.
