Train carrying 47 people derailed into a ravine

A train carrying 47 people derailed into a ravine at approximately 1100 local time (1000 UTC) on 22 August 2008, killing at least one person and injuring 25 others, including 10 seriously. The incident occurred near the Abrunheda station in the Carrazeda de Ansiaes region in northeast Portugal. The train was en route from Tua to Mirandela. Many of the passengers were thought to be tourists, but their nationalities have not been reported. Officials have not yet indicated the suspected cause of the derailment
