Railway workers on strike

Railway workers staged a one-day strike on 23 March 2010 to protest a salary freeze enacted as part of government austerity measures. The work stoppage resulted in severe disruptions to rail traffic across the country, including long-distance domestic trains and urban trains in Lisbon and Porto. International rail services were not affected.
