PORTUGESE BAGGAGE HANDLERS THREATEN STRIKE

Baggage handlers at airports across Portugal are threatening to stage a strike on 28 and 29 August 2009 due to a dispute over pay. The action is expected to cause cancellations and delays to commercial flights operated by the national airline TAP Portugal. The airline is advising its passengers to travel only with carry-on luggage if possible. Efforts to avert the strike are currently underway.
