PILOTS FROM TAP TO GO ON 48 HOUR STRIKE

Pilots with TAP Portugal are launching a 48-hour strike on 24 September 2009 to demand higher wages. The work stoppage is expected to cause cancellations of flights operated by the airline. Long-haul flights are not expected to be affected, as charter aircraft will be used to replace them. Meanwhile, flights operated by the regional airline PGA and other minimum services required by law (such as flights between Lisbon and the Azores and certain others) will operate normally.
