Homemade bomb exploded at a market in Isulan on Mindanao island

A small homemade bomb exploded at a market in Isulan on Mindanao island in the southern Philippines on 8 September 2008. Authorities stated that the bomb, which did not cause any casualties, was made from a military surplus mortar round and was remotely detonated by cell phone. An additional bomb was reportedly found and defused in neighboring Tacurong City. Philippine army Gen. Alexander Yano stated that Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) militants planted the explosives and warned that the rebel group could launch more bombings against civilian targets.
