Earthquake off the coast of central Philippines

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the central Philippines on 25 March 2010. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter was located 85 mi/135 km southwest of Manila, the capital. The undersea quake occurred at a depth of 6 mi/10 km below the seabed and could be felt throughout Mindoro Island, southern Luzon and the northern Visayas region. There were no reports of casualties or damage following the tremor, although eyewitnesses in Manila reported feeling the strong shaking and noticeable swaying in large buildings. Experts at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue any warnings.
