27 injured as passenger plane hits wall

A Zest Air passenger aircraft struck a retaining wall at Gogofredo P. Ramos Airport (RPVE/MPH) in Malay on 12 January 2009. Airport authorities stated that at least 27 passengers and crewmembers sustained minor injuries when the propeller-driven aircraft overshot the runway while landing in high winds and hit the concrete wall. The airport, located approximately 190 mi/300 km south of Manila, was reportedly closed for at least three hours following the incident while crews worked to repair the damage and move the aircraft to a hangar. The pilots reported high cross winds as the cause of the accident; an official investigation into the incident has been opened
