MISSING TOURIST AIRCRAFT FOUND

On 12 August 2009 search and rescue crews in Papua New Guinea discovered the wreckage of a passenger aircraft that went missing in the Kokoda region yesterday. Officials stated that the wreckage of the de Havilland DHC-6 aircraft was found along a mountainside in a thickly forested area near the popular Kokoda Track hiking trail. All 11 passengers and two crewmembers onboard the charter tour flight were killed in the crash.
