Panama City health workers go on strike
10 Feb 2009
On 10 February 2009 striking health workers closed all four rail lines in the San Francisco sector of Panama City, demanding a salary increase and a bonus. Minor violence broke out when a driver attempted to cross the roadblock and struck one of the nurses who was participating in the blockage. Health technicians announced that they will continue their indefinite strike, a labour action that has resulted in the cancellation of thousands of doctor's appointments and surgeries.
