INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES WARN OF HIJACK THREAT TO PAKISTANI AIRLINES

According to an intelligence report that was issued on 9th July 2009, Pakistani intelligence agencies have stated that the Tehrik-I-Taliban, the umbrella group for the Taliban in Pakistan, may attempt to hijack a commercial aircraft and crash the airliner into a building.. The report states that intelligence agencies have advised the government to change security procedures for commercial airlines in order to prevent hijackings. The report noted that the Taliban frequently use domestic airlines to travel throughout Pakistan.
