All public demonstration banned in Lahore.

Authorities announced on 11 March 2009 that all forms of public demonstration are banned in the city of Lahore. The measure is a response to lawyers and opposition parties who are calling for the reinstatement of several judges dismissed by former President Pervez Musharraf and protesting against the recent Supreme Court decision to ban former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from office. The protesters planned to march to Islamabad on 12-16 March. Organizers stated that the protest march will proceed despite the ban. Officials warned that police forces will break up any demonstrations or gatherings.
