All Airports On High Alert

On 15 March 2010 the Pakistani government put all airports in the country on high alert after receiving intelligence that Taliban militants may attempt to hijack aircraft in the “near future." In the past month, Pakistani authorities have foiled two attempts to smuggle weapons onto a Dubai-bound flight at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport (OPKC/KHI) and a Karachi-bound flight at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport (OPLA/LHE). However, there have been no indications that the two incidents were related to hijacking plots.
