Boarder re-opened to let workers cross back into Kaesong

10 Mar 2009
North Korea re-opened its border with South Korea on 10 March 2009 to allow workers back into Kaesong, an industrial park operating just north of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). North Korea initially banned most cross-border traffic in December 2008, and the border was completely shut down on 9 March, stranding hundreds of South Koreans on both sides of the border. Pyongyang also severed communication hot lines between the two countries on 9 March. It is not known if these services have resumed.
