Royal Dutch Shell facilities attacked

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta militant group claimed three attacks on Royal Dutch Shell facilities on 21 June 2009. Two of the attacks were on pipelines that were located at Adamakiri and Kula in Rivers state in the eastern Niger Delta. The also attacked the Afremo offshore oilfields, which are located approximately 14 miles from an export terminal through which crude oil from Shell's Forcados terminal is pumped. Shell representatives stated that the company is currently carrying out assessments to determine the impact on output and possible environmental damage.
