Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers threaten strike
24 Nov 2008
Members of the Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association threatened on 24 November 2008 to go on strike if the Nigeria Airspace Management Authority (NAMA) does not address their grievances within 21 days. The air traffic controllers are demanding an increase in salary, given that the services they provide are crucial for flight operations and are also physically and mentally challenging, according to the workers. An air traffic controller strike could paralyze domestic and international flight services and result in significant losses for airlines that operate in Nigeria.
