Militants attack two oil supply ships

Armed militants attacked two oil supply ships off the Niger Delta coast on 23 January 2009. In the first incident at least 10 gunmen in speedboats attacked the MV Ngoni near the Bonny oil export terminal. The ship was sub-contracted by the U.S. energy firm ExxonMobil. There were no reports of injuries or casualties, but the militants looted the crew's belongings. A second vessel was also attacked off the Nigeria coast later on 23 January, but no details on the incident were immediately available.
