Air Traffic Engineers suspend their threat to strike
24 Mar 2009
The National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE) suspended its threatened strike on 24 March 2009. The association had earlier indicated plans to begin a strike at midnight on 22 March if the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) did not meet its salary demands. The NAAE has now stated that the strike will be suspended until further notice, as negotiations between the association and management are still ongoing. If the NAAE had followed through with the strike, it would have likely shut down navigation and communication in Nigerian airspace.
