Flights Cancelled as Rome Airport Closes

One of Rome’s international airports will be closed due to essential maintenance work on its runway, for a 15 day period.

Essential work on the runway of Rome Ciampino airport, means that is forced to close, cancelling, and diverting flights.

The airport will be closed from Friday 14th October to Saturday 29th October 2016.

The British Foreign Office, advise travellers who have plans to travel to and from the airport, to: “contact your airline or travel company for more information about your flight.”

A travel update on the Ryanair website, said: “During this period some Ryanair flights to/from Rome Ciampino have been cancelled and some will operate to/from Rome Fiumicino.

“Free shuttle bus will operate between Rome Ciampino & Rome Fiumicino between 15th and 29th October 2016 every two hour from 08:30 am to 10:30pm - departing from each airport bus stations.”

The airline also provided a link where their customers can apply for a refund if they are affected by the closure. “All affected customers have been notified via email” the update continued.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by this airport closure.”

The news comes, after the airline announced that Pescara airport would also be closed for runway maintenance work, in November.
