Passenger aircraft makes emergency landing at Wellington
18 Nov 2008
An Air Nelson passenger aircraft made an emergency landing at Wellington International Airport (NZWN/WLG) on 18 November 2008. Airport authorities stated that the Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft was traveling from Wellington to Invercargill when the pilots noticed that a warning indicator light was on. The aircraft returned to the airport and landed safely. Airline spokesmen stated that passengers were offered tickets on alternate flights. The emergency landing came just 24 hours after a similar incident in which another Air New Zealand Dash 8 aircraft landed safely at Palmerston North International Airport (NZPM/PMR) after reporting an engine fire. Ground crews inspected the aircraft and reported that there was no engine fire and all passengers disembarked unharmed.
