TRANSPORTATION STRIKE PLANNED FOR OCT 7TH

Workers are planning to stage a public transportation strike in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam on 7 October 2009 over a proposed increase in the state pension age. The public sector trade union AbvoKabo is organising the strike action, which is expected to affect bus, tram and underground services. The strike will begin at 0700 local time and continue for two hours. Public transport companies are attempting to avert the work stoppage through legal action.
