HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORTS FOUR SUSPECTED SWINE FLU CASES
02 Jul 2009
The National Health Emergency Management Committee reported four suspected cases of the A/H1N1 flu on 1 July 2009. Of the four cases, two cases involve a couple who recently returned from a trip to Germany complaining of sore throat, body aches and a fever. The couple subsequently reported to Windhoek's Roman Catholic Hospital two days after their arrival back in Namibia. The circumstances surrounding the other two cases are unclear, as some reports indicate that they involve a couple who returned from a trip to Croatia, while others say that they involve a sailor from Mexico and a minor who is residing in the Oshikoto region. Test results on the cases are expected shortly. There have been no confirmed A/H1N1 flu cases in Namibia thus far. (01 Jul 2009)
