Security increased at Mexico airport following a spate of robberies

In response to a series of recent robberies (some of which we have reported previously) near Mexico City International Airport, Mexican authorities have deployed afurther 800 police officers improve security. The armed robberies targeted people who used currency exchanges in the airport and followed them away from the airport before robbing them. One person was killed in January of this year and at least 18 other people have recently been robbed around the airport, which includes five foreigners.
