Mexico City faces no water for upto1 week
07 Apr 2009
Mexico City authorities warned residents to expect total cuts to water supplies in certain areas from 9-15 April 2009 while maintenance work is completed on the Cutzamala water system. Several wells and water tanks in the city are currently not operating at full capacity, which is exacerbating the situation. While maintenance work is expected to be completed by 12 April, it will take approximately three days to fully restore service. The water cuts will affect more than 700,000 people in 337 neighborhoods in 13 of Mexico City's 16 boroughs. Xochimilco, Milpa Alta and Gustavo A. Madero are the only boroughs that will not be affected. On 7 April the city will reduce water supplies to the more than 400,000 households that owe money for water services.
