Mexicana cancel flights
10 Aug 2010
Mexicana Airlines canceled services on 13 routes on 9 August 2010, shortly after having filed for bankruptcy protection. The carrier will suspend flights on two more routes beginning on 10 and 11 August. The cutbacks in service will affect flights to London, Madrid, Montreal, Chicago, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, San Jose, Caracas and Bogota. The bankruptcy filing came after the airline failed to reach an agreement with unions on proposed cost-cutting measures, including reducing staff levels by 40 percent and cutting pay for pilots and other crew members.
