MEXICAN AIRLINE GROUNDED DUE TO FINANCIAL TROUBLES

On 7 July 2009 the Mexican government suspended national airline Aviacsa for not paying back taxes on the use of airspace. Aviation authorities stated that the Transportation and Communications Department was forced to suspend the airline for the third time in one month after Aviacsa managers failed to pay more than US$22 million in back airspace taxes. Aviacsa also served two short suspensions in June 2009 for alleged maintenance irregularities on the airline's 25 Boeing 737 passenger aircraft. Although Aviacsa managers claim they will pay the back taxes, it is unclear when the airline will be allowed to resume service
