FCO ADVISE AGAINST TRAVEL TO PARTS OF MEXICO DUE TO HURRICANE

The FCO currently advise against all but essential travel to the state of Baja California Sur in Mexico. Hurricane Jimena is forecast to hit the south of the Baja California Peninsula, including the tourist resorts in Los Cabos, in the morning of 1 September 2009. Jimena is then forecast to move north-northwest and may affect the central Baja California Peninsula and western mainland Mexico in the following 24 hours. Travellers in country should listen to local weather forecasts and follow the advice of the local authorities and tour representatives.
