Earthquake affects the state of Guerrero and Mexico City

An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 affected the state of Guerrero and Mexico City on 27 April 2009. The tremor struck at approximately 1146 local time (1645 UTC) and was centered approximately 25 mi/45 km from the municipality of Chilpancingo, located in the state of Guerrero. In Mexico City, the earthquake caused only minor damage and no injuries.
Authorities closed down Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport for approximately 15 minutes, causing delays to 15 domestic and international flights.
