6.0 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE REPORTED IN MEXICO

On 3 July 2009 a 6.0 undersea earthquake struck the Gulf of California region of Mexico. The quake occurred at 0500 local time (1100 UTC) at a depth of approximately 6 mi/10 km. It was centered approximately 40 mi/70 km southwest of Ahome in Sinaloa state. Although nearby residents reported light tremors, there were no reports of damage or casualties.
