General Operation Force to take over security at 3 airports

According to reports on 14 October 2008, the General Operation Force (PGA) from Sabah, Sarawak and North Brigade Battalion will take over security at three airports from the Malaysia Airport Berhad's Auxiliary Police beginning at 0800 local time on 15 October. The specific airports to be patrolled by PGA personnel are Bayan Lepas International Airport (WMKP/PEN), Kota Kinabalu International Airport (WBKK/BKI) and Kuching International Airport (WBGG/KCK). Areas of focus for the police security detail will be international terminals and the facility parameters. In particular, security will be tasked to "prevent trespassing, treason, terrorism and criminal activities." Additional "Tiger Platoons" supplied by the PGA will be on standby to serve as backup should a crisis occur.
