Six bombs exploded in the Corniche al-Mazraa district in West Beirut

15 Sep 2008
During the early morning hours of 15 September 2008, a series of six bombs exploded in the Corniche al-Mazraa district in West Beirut (a Sunni Muslim area). The first device exploded at approximately 0230 local time, while the second device exploded 10 minutes later. The remaining four devices detonated within three hours of the first explosion. Reports did not state the exact locations where the bombs were placed, but an unconfirmed report stated that one device exploded near the Abdul Nasser mosque and that two other devices were defused "near a church" in Lass (a village located north of Beirut). Authorities stated that the devices all appeared to be "makeshift bombs" of low-intensity. Several nearby shops and vehicles sustained material damage, but there were no reported injuries.
