POWER FAILURE AT NAIROBI AIRPORT

A power failure disrupted operations at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (HKJK/NO) for six hours on the evening of 9 December 2009. A technical problem cut electricity flow to a section of the runway lights. The situation forced several flights to divert to Mombasa’s Moi International Airport (KHMO/MBA). The airport resumed normal operations at 0130 local time on 10 December.
