Typhoon Sinlaku heading for Japan

Typhoon Sinlaku continues on a path toward southern Japan on 15 September 2008. According to meteorologists at Wilkens Weather Technologies, the storm is projected to weaken in the coming days at it moves to the northwest, crossing the southern tip of Japan on 18 September. As of 1500 UTC, Sinlaku was located approximately 322 mi/518 km west-northwest of Okinawa, Japan. Maximum sustained winds are estimated at 75 mph/65 kt, with gusts of up to 92 mph/80 kt.
