TYPHOON MELOR TO MAKE LANDFUL

Typhoon Melor was located approximately 580 mi/920 km southwest of Tokyo, today, and was moving north-northeast at 22 mph/19 kt. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 98 mph and gusts of up to 121 mph; it was forecast to make landfall at approximately later today. According to meteorologists, Melor is expected to move in a more northeasterly direction and weaken rapidly after making landfall.
