Tropical Storm Sinlaku update

Tropical Storm Sinlaku is continuing to move to the northeast on 17 September 2008 as it approaches southern Japan. Sinlaku is currently located approximately 140 mi/225 km northwest of Naha, Okinawa -- the southernmost part of Japan. According to meteorologists at Wilkens Weather Technologies, Sinlaku is expected to skirt through southern Japan and then continue to move to the northeast where it will gradually become extratropical. Reports indicate that Sinlaku's current maximum sustained winds are 46 mph/40 kt with gusts of 57 mph/50 kt.
