TWO DAY PETROL STATION CLOSURE
08 Jul 2009
Petrol stations throughout Italy will be closed on 8 and 9 July 2009 due to a strike over several industry issues. Three unions are organising the action to call for the modernisation of the stations, as well as to protest high costs and long working hours. Petrol stations located on city roads will begin observing the strike at 1930 local time on 7 July, while those on highways will begin at 2200 local time. The work stoppage will continue until late on 9 July. Although the strike is expected to affect most cities, it will not be observed in the L'Aquila area, where the G-8 Summit will be held.
