TRANSPORT WORKERS STRIKE IN ROME

Public transport workers in Rome are planning to participate in two strikes on 2 October 2009. One of the strikes will involve workers associated with the regional union Or.S.A. Ferrovie and will take place from 0830 to 1700 local time and from 2000 local time to the end of the day. The strike will impact metro service, including the rail lines Rome-Giardinetti, Rome-Civita Castellana-Viterbo and Rome-Ostia Lido. The second strike, called by the FAISAL-Cisal union, will take place from 0830 to 1230 local time and will affect the 502, 663, 777 and 982 suburban bus lines. The strikes will likely result in disruptions throughout the day.
