Ground workers strike causes over 100 flights to be cancelled
09 Jan 2009
Ground workers, including approximately 400 baggage handlers, check-in personnel and other staff, staged a strike at Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Airport (LIRF/FCO) on 8 January 2009, forcing the cancellation of more than 100 flights. The action was intended to protest job cuts planned as part of the relaunch of Alitalia next week following its merger with Air One.
