Alitalia workers strike

Workers at Italian airline Alitalia staged a strike on 17 September 2008 to protest a proposal by investors to take over the airline. The action prompted the cancellation of at least 40 flights. The Cub union organized the strike over concerns that the proposed takeover could lead to job cuts and a reduction in the airline's fleet size. Alitalia filed for bankruptcy in August 2008.
