ISRAEL SUSPENDS FLIGHT SERVICES TO THREE RUSSIAN CITIES AMID DISPUTE
01 Jul 2009
Israeli aviation authorities have announced the suspension of Israeli flights to the Russian cities of Sochi, Rostov and Krasnodar in response to a recent dispute with the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency regarding alleged Russian attempts to monopolize air routes "at the expense of Israeli carriers." Israeli officials claim that Russia has attempted to restrict the access of Israeli carriers to the three cities and is therefore failing to meet Israeli security standards. The dispute does not appear to have impacted flight services to other Russian cities such as Moscow, nor has it affected Russian flight services to Israel.
