7 killed in protest related violence

Iranian state radio station reported on 16 June 2009 that seven people have been killed in protest-related violence in Tehran since 15 June. Initial reports stated that one person was shot and killed by security forces at a massive opposition rally in Tehran's Azadi Square on 15 June; the rally was one of the largest since the 1979 revolution. The other deaths reportedly occurred after unidentified persons attacked a military outpost near the square, forcing authorities to open fire on them.
