Taxi drivers stage a protest in Jakarta

Hundreds of taxi drivers in both three-wheeled taxis and motorcycle taxis associated with the Trans Indonesia Movement Front staged a protest in Jakarta on 17 March 2010. The drivers demonstrated against the state-owned Enterprise Ministry to demand that they be allowed to use a parking lot at Gambir train station. The protest began at the Democratic People’s Bastion (Bandera) on Jl. Diponegoro. Non-profit organization members joined this protest, which disrupted transportation in central Jakarta for several hours.
