Jakarta On Flood Alert

The government in Jakarta issued an alert for the capital on 19 February 2010 after floodwaters surged to more than 6.75 ft/2.0 m at the Depok monitoring station at 1000 local time. Officials stated that people living along the Ciliwung River should prepare for flooding in the coming days as heavy rain is expected throughout the archipelago until 22 February. To date, more than 1,000 people have been displaced due to the flooding in Jakarta. Other areas that will be impacted by flooding are Bogor, Depok and Bekasi.
