Government ground MD-90 passenger aircraft

The Indonesian government grounded all McDonnell Douglas MD-90 passenger aircraft in the country on 11 March 2009, after two accidents occurred within a two-week time period. The first accident occurred in late February, with no injuries. On 9 March an MD-90 was forced to land without front gear, skidding off the runway. In Indonesia, only Lion Air operates using the MD-90 aircraft.Officials stated that investigations and appropriate maintenance could take up to a week to complete.
