EARTHQUAKE STRIKES NORTH OF SULAWESI ISLAND

On 11 July 2009 an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale was reported just north of Manado on Sulawesi Island. The tremor struck at 0452 local time and was at a depth of 19 mi/30 km below sea level. The incident caused minor damage and some panic; however, no injuries were reported. Meanwhile on 10 July an earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale caused panic on the eastern part of the island causing panic to thousands of residents
