All Passengers Safe As Aircraft Makes Emergency landing In a Rice Field

A Trigana Air Service aircraft that experienced engine trouble made an emergency landing in a rural rice field in central Indonesia on 11 February 2010. Aviation authorities stated that the pilot of the ATR 42-300 passenger aircraft reported engine trouble shortly before air traffic controllers lost radar and radio contact with the flight. All passengers and crew disembarked unharmed following the emergency landing. Rescue crews later found the damaged aircraft while searching the original flight path. The flight had departed a remote airfield in Berau province and was headed for the provincial capital of Samarinda.
