4 Hour Nationwide Transportation Strike

A four-hour nationwide transportation strike has impacted local public transport and rail services in Italy on 19 February 2010. The action saw particularly high participation (85-95 percent) in the cities of Rome, Genoa and Naples, where the strike took place earlier in the day. The strike will be observed in Milan from 1800-2200 local time, in Florence from 1700-2100 local time and in Turin from 1745 to 2145 local time. The unions Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugltrasporti, Orsa trasporti, Faisa and Fast called the strike over contract negotiations. While the strike has caused transportation and traffic disruptions, minimum essential services are still being provided.
