Smoking ban in all public places

On 2 October 2008 a smoking ban in all public places will come into effect. Officials stated that the ban will be strictly enforced and offenders can face fines of 200 rupees (US$4.50). The ban will be enforced in auditoriums, cinemas, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, bars, offices, shopping malls, airports and theme parks among other places.
