Rally shuts down the city of Srinagar in Kashmir
07 Nov 2008
On 7 November 2008 a separatist organization's attempt at staging a rally shut down the city of Srinagar in Kashmir. Troops with automatic weapons patrolled the streets and ordered residents to remain at home. Razor wire and iron barricades were used to block off access to city streets, and businesses and schools were closed. This was the separatist militants' second attempt at holding the rally to protest the Indian government.
