MUMBAI TAXI DRIVER LAUNCH INDEFINITIVE STRIKE

On 25 July 2009 more than 3,000 private taxi drivers launched an indefinite strike at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (VABB/BOM). The taxi drivers have demanded the airport reverse a new policy that prohibits taxis from parking near the arrivals terminal. Under the new system, drivers are only allowed to approach the airport after passengers call them from a pre-paid taxi counter.
